You could try your BMW dealer. I,m sure i have read that they can order a key given certain info....can,t remember what info but its worth a go.

Let me know if that works, I've only got one key, and knowing me I'll be in the same pickle at some point in time

I "think" Rainbow BMW or Allan Jeffreys hold the key database for the UK ... I may be wrong tho' :) ... one of them I think did a key for my R80RS after I sent them a copy of the logbook

When you get a replacement do what I've done; Get a spare key as well, cover it in Vaseline, fold it into a generously sized plastic bag and cable-tie it to the lower frame, under the rear mudguard or inside the fairing. Anywhere that's out of sight (of course). I lost my car keys once and boy was I glad I'd taken the precaution of fixing a spare set (house+garage too) to a steering rod. Put your 'phone number on your key fob too. Most finders are honest enough to call but they will need a number to do so. Good luck. Hope they turn up.

I believe the Genuine BM keys are about £25 and you have to take some docs with you. When you get a replacement, if it doesn't have any immobiliser etc on it, try e bay for blanks (think they're only about 99p from china) and get another cut

I got a spare cut from stock in Timsons for the 1150. Not very pretty but who cares. Why has the bike only got one key, or am I showing my age here? Each of my 1150s has three! Even with the antenna efforts surely the bike comes with a spare?

Thanks for all the advice and replies. Really appreciate it.

I've just found them not 5 minutes ago. I got up, went to make her ladyship a brew and roger me sideways with a 10 foot barge pole....

"Whats he got in his pocketses precious?"
"Is it string the Baggins has in his pocket?"
"A handkerchief perhaps?"
"Nope, is a friggin BMW Key"

Who in their right mind puts bike keys in a dressing down pocket. I MEAN WHO??????????? friggin idiot

I'm off to get some blanks cut

After losing a key in the lake district some years ago I always carry the spare ley without the plastic end in my wallet and another spare tucked behind the lining of my helmet!!
Pidcocks were able to get a replacement key from their database, but I think it took a couple of weeks. Fortunately I had spares at home.

Glad they turned up m8.
It seems that, human nature being what it is, we have to experience the JOLT of losing 'em before we address the problem. I doubt if many will act on my advise tho.
