Verholen gear change

Post by Neil178 »

Just wondering if anyone has ever fitted the Verholen gear change thingy that makes the change a little quicker?
A fraction of a second won't make any difference I know, but hey, it will make me feel better!

Just done a quick search can't find any info for the R models it seem's to have been designed for the K series wether it will fit the R series i dont know,
But it seems to be a lot of cash for something that may or may not work,
Myself i would spend less and fill the gearbox with a mix half and half with EP 80-90 and whatever engine oil you have knocking around,
Then fit Lennie's rocket sprockets so you will have to change gear less.

Remember if you fit a gear lever with a shorter throw you will need to put more pressure on the lever

Another option would be pick up a second hand linkage cut off the original pedal/lug [cant think what the correct name is] and drill the lever and do a nut and bolt type bodge till you find the right position then make up something neater when you find the right position looking at mine i think half an inch closer to the footrest would be about as far as i would go!

Don't forget lubing the original linkage will make a big improvement to the gearchange

Hope this helps Dai

Sold in Germany and the USA. I've got the links somewhere ........

Think that is the USA one. The German one won't have import duty/vat to pay ....... can't find it at the moment.
No problems with the present set up, I was just looking for some bling!
Good tip though Dai to get some lube on the selector. Not been done in many years. Or the side stand!
My sprockets are sat here looking at me .................... had them months now  but the plan is to fit them once the bike is no longer my work hack. Then I can take my time in fitting them. Or I may take the easy route and take them some where to be fitted!

Top tip use chain lube on everything that moves it's just about perfect for stands, gear linkages, pivot point's etc, no good for cables but we don't have many of them!

Also i get a perverse feeling of putting one over on the salesman that say's "you don't have a chain"
