What is wrong with my BCR

Post by lukedog »

I am trying to sell my BCR on Ebay, but I am very disappointed at the lack of interest.
I have owned the bike for six years and it is a really well maintained and pampered example with 22000 miles on the clock, its only downfall is 8 previous owners.
With 2 hours to go I have got one bidder, 51 watchers, 2 telephone calls and one person came to see the bike who tried offering me £3800 cash.
I am not desperate to sell but feel due to my health problems I am better riding something smaller.
I am not expecting big money but think it is worth £4300 and upwards.

I wonder what other BCR past and present owners think ?

I'm thinking £4,000 max for an unmodiified BCR? By unmodified - I mean without Lennies, SJ, Techlusion/PowerCommander.......

That notional £4k assumes that there are people out there who .....

a) Want one
b) Have the money

My recently-purchased Mk 2 BCR included Lennies, De-cat, SJ, and a load of accessories - for £4,250.

Al :?
If I am ever on life support - Unplug me......
Then plug me back in..........

See if that works .....

BCR

This is my own bike and is far better than the one I bought and sold earlier this year. It just amazes me that there was far more interest on that one. I do have a very realistic reserve on it, but hope it would slightly surpass that.

Luke

All a bit depressing really as a fellow BCR owner but it is a 10 year old bike when all said and done. If you had bought one new for £8K and someone told you you would get £3.5K after 10 years I bet you would have bitten their hand off.

I don't think they have reached the point when they start going up in value just yet...if they ever will?

Not really sure why you have so little interest and I bet 54 of the watchers are also depressed BCR owners. I also don't think that an Ebay auction is the best place to sell a bike like this (or any bike for that matter) as it sort of smacks of despiration putting it up for auction. Personally I would use a classified add on ebay or BikeTrader. Far more likely to have serious and genuine interested parties rather than someone 'havin a punt'.

I also note that you have some expensive bits and bobs on your bike. Have you thought about putting it back to standard (some people like to buy an original standard bike) and maximise your income by selling the 'add-ons' as you will deffo get more for them individually on here (or ebay) than you will by leaving them on the bike. You never know you might make the £4300 you are after anyway but in numerous transactions.

Just a thought.

It is not just your bike, it is a stagnant economy, folks have more important things in hand than purchasing a motorcycle. I think sometimes "modded" can be negative and "unmolested" is generally positive. I would dearly like another bike but work is hard won these days and I have just blipped the radar of HMIRC

Perhaps it is just the wrong time to expect good moulah for your unwanted?

Apart from the last few days it been raining for ages. Not exactly biking weather for most!

That and a lot of people will have already bought a bike by now for this summer. Biking season is nearly over for a lot of people!

Tell me about it, last ride for me was Boxertrix Scottish weekend, even if my bikes were insured I doubt if i could be arsxd to don leathers and faff about cleaning bike down just for the sake of a ride. I think I suffer from SAD

BCR

Post by lukedog »

I have not done much riding in the last two years, due to my heart surgery.
Then my trip to this years TT races, I found the BCR to be a real struggle and realised I am better off with something smaller.
My Father as offered me is Beautifully rebuilt 12,000 mile R100S, so I thought it would be ideal to buy it off him. But I need to sell my BCR to be able to do this.
