Front Brake Pad (ABS) retaining pin

Hello peeps
This said pin is proving difficult to remove, because there is only 1 one hole on the caliper (i.e. you can't bash it through).
Any ideas?

Drift it out from the inside of the caliper.It is a tight fit,as there is an olive on the pin.

Thx v.much - will give that rusty pin some hard wiggling tomorrow evening.
Im putting EBC HH's on the front & rear - any known issues with that combo?

Double H's are fine - used them in more than one BM and they work ok.
As to drifting out your pad retaining pin, Halfords do a handy punch tool which I've found mega-useful. Comes in a kit of 3 bits including a small cold chisel and a centrepunch.

I did this on my brakes Wed eve cos they were suddenly down to the metal and not performing much stopping. Good job I keep some spare pads.
Only minor twatting necessary though unfortunately

Unfortunately there is only one hole, so there is no way to punch it through - you can only pull it out
Will try wiggling later this eveining

You must have different calipers to me then - mine is a 2000 pre evo with Brembo calipers. The pin doesn't protrude the other side of the caliper (like it does on the rear caliper) but there is a tiny hole where you can get a centre punch or a very small screwdriver.
Have you got the calipers off? You can just flip them over and rest them against the fork bottoms before letting the twatting commence

Grip the pin with the largest snub nose pliers that will fit the space, and twist the pin side to side (that's after the weeny R pin has been removed!) It will come out with the twisting action directed towards the open end.
I matched the pin to a stainless steel cap head bolt of similar dimension, cut the threaded end off, drilled a hole for the R pin and have not had a problem since.
You'll all be pleased to know I am going for a freebie meal at the local brewery tonight. Christmas has arrived at last!

Rear pads changed easy...
Front pin wont come out
Its going for it 1st MOT tomorrow - maybe I'll ask them if they can work on those crappy japanese brakes!
On the plus side by ABS light is now going nuts a few mins after tick over (not moved the bike in like 5months!!)

Probably sorted by now but what age is the bike and therefore the brake calliper system.
Mine are the latest front with a star bit socket hole, you have to screw the retainer out.

2001 (EVO ABS - Tokio calipers or something like that).
Passed its first MOT
However, ABS is acting up real bad since I changed the rear pads, dealer thinks as I pushed the pistons back in, it caused the ABS control unit to drain... ABS warning lights look like a Christmas tree at the mo
Oh well, its booked in at Prestige MS in Bexleyheath next Sat - seems like the closest dealer to me now. I used to go to SPC but I don't live near there any more...
Anybody had any experience at Prestige?

Talking of brakes I had a spare day to day so I thought I would give the front calipers a birthday my god the amount of crap inside the calipers and around the pads was unreal think I did them 3 or 4 thousand miles ago.
How often do other folks strip em down and clean them
