don't forget there's a side thrust adjustment too on the rockers, I think, I seem to recall it's a wide variable and dealerships will often not adjust 'cos it's "within" tolerance when even so it will rattle.

Higher mileage bikes often have worn butterfly's in the injector bodies. The TPS keeps the left side quiet, the right side often rattles. Cure: new throttle body or new butterfly spindle - special manufacture, or a ticker killer :

Quite probably what Oyster said - these can make quite a racket when worn, surprisingly so.

My 11S has had a similar" problem" for over 30 k miles but I'm still searching. Personally I feel my engine runs better with the recommended 6 and 12 thou (imperial ) clearances .
I had wear on cams and followers which I replaced on the R/H side , found a thread on another forum about pushrods which became noisy when hot ( the hardened ends are pressed into aluminium and can come loose) replaced with one piece items , no difference.
Replaced chain tensioner, removed the new cams to check for wear , all ok!
Replaced the throttle bodies recently ( they were noisy ) although I knew they weren't causing "the " noise.
The only things I haven't replaced are chain tensioner guide ( they can get damaged at the pivot , The cam carrier , (looked ok but maybe excessive wear in the follower(tappet) bores and small end bush...
My bike though is (hopefully) heading for 100k miles.

You can tell if it is butterfly in the throttle body. Put finger on pivot point behind throttle pulley and gently press it. If it goes quite you have found the cause. Its only a noise at the end of the day.
