I am planning on doing my own 6000 mile service as the dealer in Cyprus only seems to do oil and filter change.

Got my own tols and a Twinmax courtesy of the group buy. Also got plenty of hints and tips via the CD manual and Oilhead Maintenance guide.
Next is to order a service kit from Motorworks.

Planning on putting synthetic oils in the gearbox and rear bevel drive box.
Gonna stick to mineral oil (20/50w) in the engine for now.

So is there any thing I should look out for or be aware of.

Advice / comments most appreciated.

Most things are common sense about the only thing I can think of that you should be aware of is when you remove the plug leads give the plugs a real good blast with an airline before you remove the plugs and rocker covers.

The only thing I might add is to make yourself some sort of funnel arrangement to avoid getting gearbox oil all over the floor/frame. Some people use an opend up coke can, I use a milk carton with the bottom cut off at an angle to place under the gearbox drain hole and divert the fluid somewhere more convenient.

You will probably need a 14 facet tool to get at the oil filter. I bought one recently from Halfords for £4.50.

Cheers Guys. I'd read somewhere about the oilfunnel trick and I shall order my self a oil filter tool. Wouldn't have realised that until taking the BCR belly pan off.

As the old chinese monk used to say "Knowledge is power" :wink: :wink:

If you speak to Daren at motorworks he will sort you out with exactly what you want including the filter tool, tell him not to bother with the fuel filter unless you think you need it. Get a K& N if you don't have one already saves a fortune in the long run not to mention the zillions of extra bhp.
Very easy to do if you have only a bit of mechnical nouse at least I thought so.

and a 'short' section of 14mm hex to undo the gearbox plug ?
