Engine paint / Ride & Protect

After removing the BMW bellypan off my S and literally cleaning 1mm of accumulated black road grease from the engine I'm pleasantly surprised to find almost zero corrosion to the engine paint.

Anyone have any tips for keeping the paint on?

I've uncovered a bottle of Ride and Protect in the shed that I inherited with my GS several years ago but the snails have eaten the paper label. Can I use it on the engine?

Cheers
Julian

Yeah , I did think of that but it was too unsightly - even for me. I have a picture that I'll get round to posting. BTW - teh BMW bellypan is really neat and comes off in 4 pieces.

I'd guess the accumulated 'road-grease'was no accident. If you're putting the bellypan back on I say paint it with gearbox oil.
