Going down!

Post by Dai wiskers »

After fitting the new hagon front shoc i have noticed my front brake pipe is tighter than it was, it still has a bit of give but tighter than i like so the decision has been made

I have run the bike for three years with the bars above the top yoke with no problem, my old shoc must have been in a poor way even then.

To be totally honest i wouldn't have even thought about it if it hadn't been for El Nico i got home after we moved his bars down i put a post up reminding him to cable tie his brake pipe then three days later had a look at mine

Oh well fifteen minutes to do the job and all will be well again and with the new shoc on the front i should be in about the same riding position as before

Will my old bones take it Dai

Dai, was it the 'standard' Hagon shock (at £300) you bought? If so, it looks like there's a single damping adjustment screw towards the bottom of the shock body, and a preload adjuster ring on a fine thread towards the top. Is that right? If this is the case, are you able to get at the shock for adjustment when installed without having to fart about removing bits of the bike? Cheers.

Dam just spent ages replying then dam forum asked me to sign in again

Mike yes £300 Hagon on my bike yes i can get to it but have found no need to [don't fix whats not broke]
I will go into more detail tomorrow [later today]

to sum up i have the £300 Hagon on the front and the £360 Nitron on rear GS torque arm and have lots of fun with the power ranger brigade how they love an old man on a rat bike with a walking stick[it's a folding one] bungied on the back appering in the middle of them mid twisty

Ask el nicko about my chickin strips Road attacks front and rear the front is past the edge of the tread pattern, the rear is past the direction arrows

No ground clearance problems my feet have not even brushed the ground since fitting the suspension set up i have now

Only downside was the five week wait for the Hagon it was worth it but all the same

I went for the standard shoc as the weight was right for me dont forget when you weigh your self to include all riding gear plus luggage

The more adjustment you have the more chance to cock it up

I don't bother to alter anything for two up work it's good enough as it is

Front fitted exactly as it came rear one click up on damping and a couple of turns on preload length as it came

A good mix i would probably been happy with a Hagon rear as well i had one on my old FJ11 and my Gpz750 and was happy enough with them but fancied a change

The bike i had before the R11 was a triumph speed four and i feel the R11 handles better it just feels more planted and i am sure corner speeds are higher now

Hope this helps Dai

Thanks Dai, that is helpful. Still not explored the options fully - but have plenty of time cos I can't afford it yet.

I know the feeling, it was a case of having to do mine the front started leaking so i decided to do both as fitting a new front on its own would realy have shown the back one up, so it was off to see the bank manager!

These bikes handle well on the standard shocks but buying secondhand is a gamble i wasn't going to take due to the age of the bikes they come off

I am more than happy with the bike now and can't see me parting with it ever, it just suits me down to the ground i fit the bike well it's comphy now i have sorted the seat with a self inflating camping cusion and a sheepskin cover 300 mile days not a problem, it's even pretty good on fuel now, it will pull from 2000 rpm in top gear two up on a flat road with very little complaint [compair that to the speed four nothing below 10,000 then all over by 12,500] all the way past the red line [no idea what chip is fitted 7 previous owners recorded write off and left pot hanging off when my mate bought it as a project] but it pulls through 8,500 still going strong]

By far the best bike i have ever had Dai

Dai, I carry my stick on the bike, but mine is the NHS wood stick that doesn't fold down.
I found :
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004T0N4SM/r ... 51_3p_dp_1

These Velcro straps are great, and I use two to fasten round the cane and the luggage rails on the rear. And is I got a oak of ten I have some spare and the fabric won't cause damage to my bike and they are easy to remove.
Just thought you and others might of liked another idea if they use a walking stick.

Dai,to avoid that happening and, unless your reply is fairly short, do as I do and compose your message in your email then cut and paste onto here.

Mr. Spock is my role model so be advised; I possess no (discernible) sense of humour.

It's all VFR (DCT) round here now. STILL missing my 1100s tho.
