Does any one know how to do this with out stripping the pannels and lifting the tank to get access to the battery terminals.
I seem to recall that it may be possible to connect directly to the starter motor but not sure if this is safe or not.
Cheers

Julian,
I seem to remeber that the newer ones have connections on or near the starter motor to allow you to do this, but not the older ones. Sadly I think you're going to have to start taking those panels off...
Is this your new toy then? Any change you'll be down at Box Hill on it on Sunday morning, assuming an overnight recharge does the business for you?
Cheers,

At this stage in the game I'm planning on a early doors at the Box on the 'Austrian Grenade', then back to Chiswick for a 10.30 S viewing.
Where and what time are you guys heading down there - I could join you if I could remember where you lived

Is'nt there a power socket adapter for the Optimate? an overnight charge via this might just do the job.

Both batteries were shagged even though the Optimate said one was OK.
In the end we wired it to the car battery and it started first push after sitting outside for 7 months.

So,
Have you made him an offer he can't refuse?
If you need a working battery to tide you over in the short term, I have the old one I've just taken off my bike which you're more than welcome to have if you come around to collect it. It would save me a trip to the dump
Cheers,
Paul

I remember it very well thankyou Mr C!
It was dark,-2 and icy.
Soon forgot about the cold after after an hour of pushing the bleeder up and down a hill numerous times.
Ever tried running alongside your S at about 20mph and tried to jump on and then, try and control the resulting rear wheel lock up?
All this while jumping with my measly 11 stone up and down on the seat!
How i laughed.
Or was it cried?
Anyway.Dont try!
It aint gonna happen.
Fit a new battery.

Hello,
I ran a pair of 10mm cables from the battery to the front of the fairing, by the fuse box, and fitted a 2 pole socket (like on a fork truck)....
I keep another socket with cables and ring terminals under the seat, as a set of jump leads........ when it won't start, just plug and play!!!!
now that is..... in hindsight!!!
but I'll not forget the evening in the middle of nowhere trying to bump the f***er!
problem is, when the volts drop the injectors don't fire properly, so bumping is not fun....... enough speed to start charging.
