Getting my bearings

out of a front wheel?
How too? I've looked at some conventional pullers but they're too big to get down the 20mm hole. There doesn't seem to be enough flange
showing for me to try and drift the first one out - does anyone know of a tool to do the job - I know some people have done it on here. I reckon I just need a tiny puller but can't immediately find one

I used a drift to remove mine.Just make sure you heat up the area surrounding the bearing enough.It will come out quite easy.
On replacement i heated the area again and put ice cold bearings in using a suitable sized impact socket.

Gus - Did you drift the whole lot out at once? There are 2 bearings and a spacer aren't there? The manual says to take the smaller one out first. I could try drifting it using a screwdriver on the tiny bit of flange from the other side but I'm not convinced that would work. Once the first one is out then it is a piece of cake (hopefully) to get the other one out. Drifting them back in shouldn't be a problem. I'm just trying to get them out of Julians knackered front wheel.

Jason...just did mine 2 weeks ago...you need a long chisel/drift witha nice sharp lip on in....just so you can catch the edge of the bearing from the opposite side.Don't worry about heating.....just tap each side of the bearing...they come out real easy.
Freeze new bearings before refitting.

Okey Dokey - I've got a long nice chisel (surprise surprise!) that I had to get to dismantle some of the wreck. The front wishbone plug cover on one side sheared and had to be persuaded out with a FO hammer and chisel
I'll give it a go this alvo

Got the buggers out eventually - but I reckon I'll invest in some of these blind bearing pullers before I do it on my own bike

I cant see a hammer anywhere in that kit.
Would it really work,even without the slightest of twattings?

Tis a slide hammer - but at 0.9 kg sounds waaaaay too small for the job

Boys - the kit does bearings up to quite a large diameter and therefore quite a large circumference (with the subsequent increase in surface area) so I presume the .9kg will be deemed man enough for the job. TBH it looks like you could simply attach a BFO slide hammer to those pullers pretty easily
Either that or put the hammer in a vice and drop the wheel instead
They're certainly pricey, but one slight slip of my twatting hammer could easily do more than £90 of damage I'm sure
