What's the general opinion on the service life of the bevel box pivot bearings? Just had to adjust mine for the third time @ 16K miles.

Ignorance is bliss... 25k and I haven't got a clue if they need adjusting or have ever been adjusted at any of the services.
I'll let you know if the back wheel falls off

I've found it depends on 2 things mainly.
1) How you ride...if you are a spirited rider who likes lots of on/off throttle use and likes to use every part of the tyre carcass...this causes wear.
2) More importantly....if you leave them in a poor state of adjustment they will wear very rapidly.Check regularly (at least evry 5K miles).
Keep well greased!!
My bike has done 122K miles.I will be needing my 4th set of para bearings shortly. So as a rule I'd say somewhere in the region of 30K per set.

Cheers Bailey, hopefully theyve got a bit more life in them yet then. I did regrease them last time I adjusted them.
Adam, if they need adjusting you will feel it, it doesn't take much play to notice it flip flopping. You can check for sure by grabbing the rear tyre top and bottom and giving it wobble, like checking wheel bearings, you can then feel them clunking.

I'm up to 109k and have changed them once - perhaps I drive like a girl
