thrumming noise isa driving me bonkers innit!

Hi all
I've been getting a thrumming/humming noise,i think from the front end but cant be 100% sure.I,ve checked and replaced front wheel bearings,swingarm bearing and rear pivot bearings.All seems well with no serious play in any.Its doing my head in,any ideas?

Oh,it only happens when bike is leant over.

What tyres are you running Gus? People always seem to complain about Metzlers being noisy.

That was what I was thinking - I've got Metzs and they thrum loud enough to wake the flippin dead

Bridgestone 010,s,which are due to be changed this week to 014,s.I,ll see if it stops after new tyres are fitted.

Gus,

Invest in a better pair of ear plugs, or an Autocom so you can drown out the noise with music

Keep the bike upright,should cure it.

God I hate it when this sort of thing happens,
leant over you say.... either side?
At one speed or in a certain gear?
Didnt you mention it before the respray?
I would be looking for weird stuff now like a poorly routed cable vibrating against the tank or fairing, or the fuel pump slipping and touching the filter or ... or.....
Can you recreate the sound stationary I.E. leaning the bike over with the help of a friend or two with the engine running.
What happens if you get to motorway speed and cut the engine holding the clutch in.
I would also look for wear marks on or under the tank, or on the inside of the fairing which may indicate something could be touching it.
Have you got the standard battery? is it in tight?
It is definitely the bike.....?
Not a certain jacket flapping about or something loose on your lid or...or..

There was some discussion on Pelican a while ago about lining up the joints on the shaft to lessen vibration , did you catch it?

Just some random thoughts, hopefully they'll spark a new thought train for you when you look at it next time.

Thanks for that reg,your a bloody genius!

Carl,i did mention it b4 the respray.I fitted new front wheel bearings as i was convinced it was those that were knackered.Not a blind bit of difference.I,d sort of forgotten how annoying it was at the time of getting me bike back on the road.Now its driving me barmy!It doesnt make the noise staationary.No unusual noises when i pull in the clutch whilst moving.
Nothing appears to be rubbing or touching anywhere.
It sounds so much like a wheel bearing,but there aint a bit of movement in em.And as i,ve said i put new ones in a couple of months ago.
OH well more head scratching i suppose.

Had a set of new tyres fitted today,i,ve stuck with the 010,s.Firstly they are cheaper than 014,s and secondly i bloody love em!
Anyway the good news is,the noise has gone.

hooray!
The front tyre was completly knackered on the edges and very feathered.
Mick(central wheels)said they can get noisey,Seems he was right.

The 010's on my TT do exactly the same.

The Bridgestones on the Pan have just bin replaced by more of the same although I didn't encounter any of the odd wear patterns on the front. The carcass is however stiffer than the 010's that you would need for the S fitment coz the Pan is so FAT
