I know someone tried this a while back with one of them Datatool devices.
Has anybody tried these :

I emailed them and they would like details of the neutral switch fitted to our bikes.

I was/am working on a light which comes on when you are in top gear. I have had to use a gear position switch from a K1200/R1100GS which fits in place of the neutral switch. This has a coded output for each gear and requires a complex logic circuit to make full use of. As I only wanted to have an indication of top gear I have used a much simpler circuit for this purpose. If you could get hold of the BMW K1200 or GS circuitry from a breakers it would probably be relatively simple to fit the whole thing to the S

There's a chap on the Pelican site whos picked up on the gear indicator idea. He is talking about logic inverters etc. He would like to ask you some questions about the switch and it's outputs. He has sent you an email but if you don't get it can you wander over there and have a look. His name is Moybin and can be found here:

AND; a "switch" that requires all of it's inputs to be "set" before an output can be produced
NOT; literally "Not the input", any input to this device is "inverted" on the output

OR; following the AND sequence here, but an output is produced when ever any of the inputs are set.

NOR; "NOT an OR" ie inverse of an OR gate so a signal is only produced when no inputs are present
XOR; or "Extraordinary OR", whereby typically only two inputs are present and an output is only produced when either of the inputs are set, but no output produced if both are set or both are not-set
