And now to throw some water on the flames...

I've just spoken to my local friendly BM mechanic / technician. Seems to think that 31k is a bit low mileage for a UJ failure but the symptoms seem to fit. As for phasing the UJ, he'd never heard of it. (I reckon Bailey prompted him to say that :wink: )

Thirty years experience and fully BM trained you'd think he'd have come across it if it was important.

Once I have the green Loctite in my hands I'll set about destroying... err, I mean fixing my final drive.

Pass me the pre-drilled forged knutson valve.

I think that you will find that aligning yokel ears is specific to tractor types and has no relevence to donkey bikes :wink:
