I was wondering if you have any recommendations for the best (not necessarily shortest or fastest) route to Criccieth?
I'm coming from the North (a long way North) and looking on the map I was thinking of coming in on A5 through Ruthin and Druid and then A494 to Llanfor before heading on A4212 to Transfynydd, then A470/ A487/ A497 to Criccieth.
361 miles, 6 and half hours from home according to Mr Garmin.
Sound sensible or is there a better route awaiting me in Wales?
Cheers
Ian

That's a decent enough route in Ian .... it's going to be a long weekend for you! Our Saturday rideout is about 180 miles

Thanks Steve, I'll go with that then, it will be good to get a few miles in on the bike .
Half thinking of having a bimble around Wales on the Sunday and staying over on the Sunday night as I don't need to back at work until Tuesday. Will depend on the weather and if anyone else is around.

There's a fair few heading south on the Sunday Ian, and a good bike meet at Abergavenny bus station, a cracking round route could easily be had and maybe an inclusion of cross gates just before the cracking Llandrindod Newtown road, just a thought. You'd nearly have run the RS in by the time you got home

Well we have a little dilemma here, we're not sure what time the dog sitter will arrive and we can't leave the dogs on there own as they go mental, Diesel took a bite out of Tuco's back the last time the bikes came out. So we're thinking sometime between 8-9.30 in the morning and heading up to Abergavenny for breakky, if it's nice shall probably go to the bus stop otherwise Luigi's if it's wet, I think the general consensus is to meet somewhere in the town
Animals, don't you just love 'em, dogs decide the leaving time for us as well, drop them off Thursday evening or at 9:30 Friday in cullompton which is on the way and Sue leaves the car in town for the weekend and jumps on the back. Might see you in Abergavenny.

Those were the days!- we all had a bit to drink (I recall lots of whiskey chasers) and when a load of drunk Black Country lads get together, mayhem will ensue! - lucky that the whole place didn't go up!

It started badly, it tailed off a little in the middle and the less said about the end the better, but apart from that it was excellent.
