Like the look of the new RS but already have two bikes in the garage and nae enough money for a third. My S with the Wunderlich superbike bar conversion still fits the bill and with 80K its still got some life in it yet. Could be tempted to change the GS for the RS in a few years.

Well, excellent in depth review, on the basis of which I know the bike will be important and blue and white......MCN...pointless wankers
I suspect we wont know how good/bad this bike is untill someone does a back to back comparison with the R1200S we all know.. that will be interesting

Congratulations. Sounds like you will be the first to buy one from here. What spec did you go for ?
I am tempted myself but always struggle to see the justification in buying brand new
when you consider the depreciation.. I will look to get to the bike show to see it and then a test ride before deciding - I like the looks and the idea but feel that it's a shame they have dropped the tele lever. However, it may well be that conventional shocks have moved on so much with ESA and DDC ( or whatever they call it) that tele lever has had its day.

Andy, thanks.
I have gone for the Dynamic spec, purely becuase it includes the heated grips (no longer standard).
Like most, I will miss the 'funny front end' but having had so many bikes I am used to conventional forks.
5 months and counting .....

Good job I have not placed the final order - heated grips are part of the Comfort package (not Dynamic).
Andy, you would certainly be better writing to your MP about 'comfort' as I can't say that any MP is 'dynamic'.

To me - that is a good looking bike, which surely must appeal to those who are looking for a BMW "sports-touring" rather than the "sport-sport-sport" variety?

Looks great in the flesh too, although I'm not so sure about the matt silver pannier lids.
To me they need to be just black or colour matched to the bike

Having seen the bike at the NEC I agree - even down to some differences between the different colour bikes. The black one has a belly pan and gold forks, easy enough to work that out but ...
what is the strip light down the middle of the front of the black version that does not appear on the blue/white bike ?
