It finally turned up 3rd May - left on the doorstep even though it was recorded delivery. That's about the third time and if I hadn't been so busy I would have had a rant at the post office about it.
Anyway, it doesn't look quite as bad as I thought it might. Compared to the Garmin 2610 mounts it's much smaller, more discreet when off the bike and doesn't get in the way of the key even when the unit's fitted. I can even see all of the speedo and tacho when it's all mounted. I've had a couple of runs out and find it to be out of line of sight so that it's not distracting, but not too far that needing to look at it is an inconvenience. Not had to use it in anger with anywhere I don't know yet though.

Bolts short as described. Rubber packing under clamp mean they don't penetrate the nut:
