No Sign of the bike coming back this time.

Does anyone know where I stand in terms of valuation when it comes to non standard parts that were declared at the time of taking out the policy? Am I entitled to the value of a replacement bike with wilbers shocks and a staintune exhaust or not?

What are your guesses for what I will get offered for a Mamola Boxercup with 68K miles on the clock?

I`ll guess at £1500-£2.5k, ain`t a clue really. Be very surprised if they are more generous than that but who Knows?

All insurance is based on market value. Your best bet is to get as much evidence as you can to support your claim. So, any adverts for a similar model that you can save and present. This might be a time for the forum to come into its own.

Why to start a thread asking owners of similar bikes to send you a photo with mileage and condition details and then an honest appraisal of what they would sell for or, even better what they paid ( especially if in the last 12 months)

Of any forum members know of bikes sold in the last 12 months they can pass that information. Didn't a very nice example sell on here recently for £5k ?

Good luck

Compensation for "upgrades" will be dependent on your policy. Most would state that they would replace items with standard.

If you have an agreed value with the insurer - that is what they should pay out. Otherwise - with 68K miles on - you could be looking at £3,000 absolute max. In your favour is the rarity, - where you can say "Tell you what - go out and get me a replacement with adjustment for mileage - then!"

You should with a bit of digging - be able to make a case for resale values (but not perhaps the advertised ones) - to help?

I already have a spreadsheet with all available examples from eBay and auto trader but that's only four examples with one at a ridiculous price. Excluding the expensive one, the other three show linea depreciation due to milage. Forecasting from this results in about 2.5k at 70k miles.

More data points would be a big help if anyone has any.

Also thinking of plotting non boxer cup models and looking at the delta between these and the boxer cup to see what value that comes up with.
