I can tell you what's wrong with your tyres mate.
North Yorkshire County Council Highways funding policy.
I think the roads have got a lot worse than they used to be,even the good lines on a lot of corners from last year don't seem to be there anymore nevermind the surface dressing that's a poor excuse for a road surface they use nowadays.All it does is put new chimpings over the bumps and undulations already there.
A good friend has a road planing business and now it is in the yard most of the time and the road sweepers get used more,before it was the other way round.Speaks volumes for how the road is prepared for a new surface to be applied.

Oh By the way I've seen Pb ride and he is quick and you can't be quick without being smooth,so can we all please calm down fratching like schoolgirls(he said this,she said that) or It''ll be detention after school(if the bloody teachers weren't on strike.

I only got 3200 miles from a pilot sport on my ST. Probaly 1/2 that was on wet roads 1C temps and for miles snow! I bought a pair cheap so I can't complain. And it's not like I had a chance to ride it hard.
One point tho, the engine braking on these boxer twins (my 1st remember) does that not contribute to rear tyre wear? I do like to use the engine braking to adjust speed, I'm not so heavy on the front brakes (which are linked to my rear anyway)

Now fitted a Pilot road (CTC?) on the rear, seems ok so far.

i would agree with road surfaces being a contributory factor but i also think that sometimes a batch of tyres can be at fault too (although they shouldn't be, especially in this day and age) as about 15 yrs ago i used to run a golf gti and for the first couple of years i ran it on pirelli p6000's and got 12k out of the fronts but the 3rd set that i put on only got 6k. i changed to yokohama a510's after that and (as well as being a far superior tyre for grip wet and dry) i returned to 12k mileages.

I'd look at the suspension set up.

My R6 track bike shredded tyres until we got it set up properly - but then you could see the damage to the tyre clearly.

Tyree pressure have been constant with what teh previous pars were and the tyre surface is really smooth.
We'll just see what Michelin have to say and put it down to experience
