Sorry - can't help the detail - got a bit of a soft spot
Don't get put off by the North West - it's pretty built up and Tangier is a dump (assume you are doing the Algeciras - Tangier ferry?) Also at the border you'll be offered help by a 'guide' to get through customs, etc ... it is about the only time I would suggest taking them up on the offer. They can be of great help to speed things up for the few Euros or whatever you give them. (You get a stamp in your passport for your bike too - make sure you bring it back out!

) Things may have changed though.
Gets better after Cabablanca - but it's all good mate. Thankfully, the antithesis of Norway .. ha ha .. sorry Blackal
Essaouira is nice spot like I said on the coast - from there it's only 2 hours max into Marrakech on a bike (bus takes 2.5 hours). It's all changing so fast - I was there in January and it's got a lot more touristy due to the cheap direct flights. But the Jlema el Fnar square is still an eye opener in the evening - good food too (just stick tot he busy high turn over stalls and you'll be fine).
East is for sure the less used roads - to say they are worse I am not sure. They can all be patchy in places - but the east is quieter (they are scared of those nasty Algerians

) so makes for more 'relaxing' riding. Fez is a nicer town than Marrakech in my opinion - hey, I mean with hats like that what's not to like! Harder to get to so better

From Midelt to Fes you are in Berber territory and they are very friendly - and probably own a camel called Jimi Hendrix.
Heat? Ha ha - I was camping in the High Atlas in Febuary and almost died of cold (at night). Middle Atlas isn't much better. Both the ranges 'protect' you from the Saharan heat and can get very chilly at altitude. Worth riding through the middle atlas though on your way back up ... also the Rif range (Chefchouen still a nice town). Marrakech at the end of Jan was clear skies - warm enough to sit out until dusk - then chilly. Gets b*stard hot sometimes though as it's trapped between the two ranges.
Blah blah blah .. doesn't he go on!

Hi,
Try this place for stickers. Look at A-Z stickers in the right hand column. Their based in Westgate road Newcastle so it will be mail order but they can do pretty much anything.

While on the subject I would also recommend you remove the carbon engine covers for the trip and replace with the standard plug cover inserts.
I know it doesn't look as good but one drop and your looking £300

One light fingered local and your loooking at £600
Or if your like me, you already have a pair of damaged covers

which I fit for track days and touring
Ain't paranoia worrying

Yeah - I'll go back again sometime. Just time is the issue as always! It was 2002 when I was there for my 'big' trip - been back a few times since - can't believe it is 6 years ago!
May should be getting warm in places
There are no restrictions on free camping - just a case of finding a remote spot. Up towards Fez should be fine too. We did a few nights but the accomodation was so cheap off the beaten track that there was little point in carrying a tent - nice to give the locals a few quid too.
Ooh, forgot ... here are my pictures from 2002 to get you going:

Fancy fitting knobblies to the BCR?

I bought a Gel coated fibre glass belly pan, in white, then puttin on a few stickers including "raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital"!
My son was there last july with kidney failure, so i want to give a bit back!
The belly pan was £44 all in! well happy with that!

My BCR is a love/hate relationship too
Boat from Spain is OK - some say the crossing to Cueta is better. Both borders are fussy ... actually all borders are fussy!
Green card - you need something that says you are covered in Morocco. I was covered in Morocco by my insurers but had nothing to say that I was that 'looked' official ... so I bought 3 days cover at the border - stayed for 8 weeks. You could, er, doctor a letter from Bennetts

Buying insurance at the border is easy - how long you going in for? Make sure you have cash (Euros fine). I remember an issue with cards but that was a while back.
Make sure you pay a guardien to look after your bike - or park it in your room (surprisingly quite acceptable in Morocco) ...

"actually all borders are fussy!" Last year i went through 9 countries and noone was at any! except for uk/france. but on all the others we just rode straight through! Free movement now u know!
Ok so i will just get cover once im there. £30 for 5 days or something like that
Im going for 2 weeks, hope its long enough!

Otherwise just keep an eye on fleabay (include European sites when you search)

You try China/Russia and Thailand/Myanmar/Cambodia
Nah - you are right - usually no one there. They are just time consuming and can be a little stressful - but it's all part of the fun.
I think the cover is 'cheap' considering everything - but only third party available

Think your £30 for 5 days is about right. Will Bennetts not cover you third party there? I think I had a fully comp NU policy which was OK.
Two weeks should be OK - I did Montpellier to Tadworth in a day on the way back on an XT600. But I don't recommend it

Always need more time ...
