It's not how fast you ride, it's how you ride fast.
Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear
bright until you hear them speak.
However, it seems that quite a few users of this site have what can only be described as "major issues" with their bikes at quite low mileages. Getting something like 150,000 miles out of an S with a few clutch changes etc is fine and I'd be happy with that but not so if I've had to replace clutch drive shaft's, wiring systems etc, etc.
Most high milers have less problems coz they actually use the bikes and the back end doesn't seize up thru' lack of use

I'm a journo - don't let the facts get in the way of a good story

My fault as I can't get the hang of the quote facility on this site so who's quoting who here ?!
Anyhow, just got back from the local BMW centre. Hav'nt been there for years. Christ it's like going into a 5 star hotel rather than a bike showroom.....free coffee bars, marbe and tiles everywhere. Was looking at the Gran Turisimo. A cool 14,500 quid with extra's one does'nt need. Jesus....who buy's a new bike these days ? Really liked the 800 though...compact and small like a proper sports bike should be. Shame about the position of the front brake master cylinder which looks like it would poke ones right eye out when crouched property over the tank. Bike shops are crazy places nowadays though. For one Gran Turisimo you could buy 7 very good 100RS's kitted out with the old Krausers. Punters keep buying them up regardless of how much the prices are though. There was a bloke with his missus talking about trading in for a new bike. His current scoot was a immaculate 1200 tourer with just 2,000 miles on the clock ! I just can't see the point. He's probably done about 3 months summer mileage on his existing machine and he's sick of it already.
I was in John Clarks in Dundee today. They had a used F800ST with 150 miles on it. Guy had bought it and after 100 miles decided it was too fast and too heavy . The dealer tried to put him on a 650 but all he wanted to do was get rid - at a significant loss. Still I guess John Clark's happy.
