Crap in the wet will change to tourance next.
Sounds like Michelin haven't progressed much from the T66's I had on my 1150GS. Great in the dry but bloody awful in the splashy stuff - admittedly I'm a wuss in the wet but a tyre which kills what little confidence I've got is not fun. Tourances always delivered the goods, as did the Metz Enduro 4's (the fore-runner to the Tourance).
Surprising considering folk are singing the praises of their other road tyres ie anything named Pilot Power/Road or whatever.
Can you not get "proper" road tyres for the GS, rather than those stupid "faux knobbly" rufty tufty off-road-a-like tyres?
Paul
Very fair point - but after some initial trepidation over using these 'off-road' hoops I found they were actually superb. On the 1150GS the Tourances gave enough grip to start wearing away at the bike's footpegs (intentionally ); they really are fantastic tyres. On top of that I used to get 6000 from a rear and 9000 from a front.
PS. You can get Pilot Roads or 020's in the 110/19" & 150/17" sizes.
<stop it stop it....you're talking yerself into a GS again....>
Off to Micheldever this morning to get a new pair of hoops. The M3's have done 3600 miles, the rear now down to 1mm on the centre tread; front's probably got another 1500 miles in it.
Seeing as the sh*te weather's on its way reckon it'll be Pilot Roads time.

Went for Conti Road Attacks in the end
Rode over 200 miles on them this afternoon on a recce up to Wellesbourne Airfield for a future Brekkie run (look what a top service we moderators provide ). First impressions very favourable indeed - lighter steering than the M3's and more progressive leaning. Definitely more of a 'road' tyre - comfy, very stable and, of paramount importance, they look snazzy too.

I have it on good authority that the Cafe at Wellsbourne does a very fine brekkie. If their chocolate cake is owt to go by (ie the size and calorific value of said creation) the breakfasts will be flippin' larvely.
Nice little route to get there too - from Uxbridge it's 88 miles and today (with a mix of light & heavy traffic) took just under 90 mins.
I managed nearly 6k miles on my set................

Although i don't think i've ever managed those sort of average speeds on public roads

The rear of my M3 is squaring off now and the rucks in the road are sending me all over the place. The rear still looks fairly legal as long as you don't look too close. going for 4000 miles out of these, handling still good.
I love these tyres and will replace like for like but next year. Bought a winter bike for the first time a volvo 460 15 years old 26000 miles FSH £275.00 lets just hope the flat cap and the dosy diving don't come as standard
Need some new rubber soon - might try the Conti Road Attacks as the Pilot Roads seem to go off badly when square at the back. My front is looking ropy and following Gromit the other day my bike seemed a bit reluctant to turn (the front profile is far from its original form...) although that could be down to my rusty riding and his obvious god like riding prowess.
160 quid sounds pretty good which means I could change both and justify the cost to Cara on safety grounds

The Pilot Roads are the best wearing tyres I have ever experienced.
Surely it must be down to the '50 pence piece rider'?!
