The hotel at the top of the pass does fantastic food if you didn't stop this time you should next. Same goes for the Falls of Shin visitor centre, absolutely sooooooperb food, not that I think with my stomach. Did you stop there and have a look at the salmon leaping ???
Toodle pip

We stopped for nothing nor nobody in our quest to conquer the Highland TT course (food excepted

)
Who is Eileen Doonan ?
Visited the Falls visitors centre for splendid refreshments - no salmon to be seen however.

I bet half the animals ran for cover with their ears bleeding what with the high pitched whining of gears.

There were no difficulties with errant sheep, I think the sonic boom that was preceeding us must have frit the bejeezus out of them and they stayed well out of harms way

Definitely sounds like a great trip Lloyd - seems like you did my favouritest road in the whole of GB; the A87 from Invergarry to the Kyle.
Magic.

Tis a splendid road - is that the one known as the Five Sisters? Three of us were barred from the owners club (temporarily) for bringing it into disripute along that stretch - I think they were joking

Indeed 'tis the 5 Sisters - named after the 5 peaks which can be seen from the road.
Fabulous stretch of road with some of the most stunning views imaginable. The 'Highlander' castle at the end is just the icing on the cake.
Skye's good too
My lil' Trumpet by the castle Aug '04 (can't believe Rods & I did nearly 450 miles that day and didn't get wet).

Peter - we'd proably have to do it on an 'it's thursday and the weekend's weather forecast looks good so let's go tomorrow' basis. Trouble with Scotshire is if we organise anything a long way in advance it's bound to rain. If it is fine though I can think of nowhere more beautiful.
Or as my late (and very great) Scottish uncle once said to me, when I was complaining about the rain whilst visiting them a few years ago; 'If ye nay like the weather in Scotland, just wait 5 minutes'.

You lot can stay away, I don't want the roads up here getting over crowded.
On a serious note, we could organise something for next year, I have a few ideas already.
And another saying is,
"if you can't see across the loch it is raining, and if you can it is just about to rain"

All sounds good boys. Clare and I were over to Dornie and the surrounding areas last week.
We went from Aberdeen to Inverness, then down the banks of Loch Ness as far as Invermorriston when we turned in towards the Kyle; what a blast!! That road is the best I have driven in Scotland.
We stayed at the Loch Duich hotel in Dornie which looks over onto the castle ( room 5 looks directly at it). An impressive sight first thing in the morning.
We then went over the hill to Plockton (Hamish Macbeth country) and stayed in the Plockton Hotel. There are palm trees in Plockton!!
Then back to Aberdeen via Spean Bridge, Fort william, Perth, Dundee and the East coastal route.
An amazing few days. Quiet roads, well kept and dry for the most part. I hope to be back over that way again next month as Clare and I are planning our wedding in Eileen Doonan Castle for the end of next year and are trying to source a good hotel for the guests.
I would strongly recomend the area to any of our southern Boxter brothers, despite the chance of rain and the bloody midge!
I have the contact details for both the hotels if anybody wants them.
Enjoy!
Leasky.

Peter.
They are still harvesting up there at the moment, you may wish to set the dates for after the agricultural machinery has been put away
Sorry Peter
