We would be stupid to have a politically correct mindset on this. :?
Correct.
It's something we have to face up too.
I have a very close friend from Poland, and even she has admitted to me that a lot of her fellow country people coming over here are criminals looking to expand their markets.
It stands to reason that the same system that has allowed free trade and travel throughout Europe, also provides more opportunities for criminals.
To believe otherwise would be frankly naïve.
Vehicles can be much more easily disposed of in Eastern Europe, and I've heard they can be off shore and on their way in a matter of hours.

"In Eastern Europe, especially Ukraine, they make no effort to hide the fact a bike is stolen. There are websites that actively advertise bikes for sale that are obviously stolen from the UK"

Yes it's true that with any mix of people there will be good and bad but the tone of your post implied all were bad.

It's a dangerous area to go down on a public forum, we do not want to have excessive right or left wing opinions expressed whether well intentioned or not as once that box is opened it can all get deeply unpleasant.

Please do not mistake a quip about "can't we execute these people" as anything more, it was a quip and I for one would fight against execution. However, we have no evidence that the scumbags involved are migrants so to attempt to subvert opinion to that is divisive at best.

And to imply that because someone is on low income they have to resort to criminality does all those poorer, honest people struggling daily a disservice.

Well said Steve.

Fontana, this is a motorbike forum, not a political site. The original post was about anger at gangs of thieves who seem to operate with impunity and no regard for the suffering they are causing to the owners of that property. To convolute that into blaming an entire ethic group is repugnant and then to turn your argument on its head when challenged and justify their as the only thing poor people can do is equally repugnant.

Since you have been on the site, you have shown a tendency to aggressively argue the toss with anyone who has an opinion that differs from yours. Please, I'm asking you respectfully once again, can you tone it down a bit and stop being so eager to take offence at anyone with a different world view than your own. It is souring the atmosphere on this otherwise good humoured site.

Where have I been aggressive on this thread.
If you care to point it out, I'll happily apologize.
Cheers.
Oh and your implication that I am some sort of bigot is well out of order.
My Wife is from Latvia
I've forgotten more about the eastern block than most here know.

On this thread, you have not agued aggressively, I stand corrected, but it is a recurring theme in several of your other posts.

Regarding your bigotry (your choice of words, not mine)
fontana wrote: I was trying to hold back on saying this, but the fact is that the recent boom in London bike theft coincides with the influx of Eastern European migrants.
To use your usual conversational gambit, what evidence do you have for your assertion that there is a causal link between the number of Eastern European migrants and the rise in bike related theft? If you have any, I suggest you share it with the appropriate authorities rather than disseminating it on here.

I can't let you think that you can use your wife's nationality as a "get out of jail free card" in the your damnation of the morality of her compatriots. Perhaps you should ask her if she shares your views on this topic? In what charitable way could anyone possibly interpret the comment you made above?

Your last line in the previous post is very telling. You think you know more about anything than anyone else on this forum, and your attempts to demonstrate that particular view are getting more tedious by the day.

If I learnt Polish and robbed the bank of England communicating with my fellow thieves in Polish people would wrongfully believe I was Polish .... <starts plan for the Bank of England ...... crap I'm hopeless at languages .. plan foiled!!! >

A well known radio 2 jock who has the morning slot commented this morning about a phone call from the police. He had his bike stolen/ twoc`d/lifted/borrowed from outside his place of work months ago. They disabled the tracker. Then the tracker came back on line and was discovered... in Lithuania. I wonder how that got there :?

Maybe a British white social underclass scumbag from one of our ghettos took it on a Charlie and Ewan? Who knows? Who cares?

Any snowflakes out there offended by what I have just summized?

Just can't hold it in can you fellas. It's an indication of the lack of respect you have for this forum

"Derogatory comments aimed at vast swathes of the population based on either their race, creed, colour, sexuality etc.

Any posts breaking this policy will be deleted, the poster will be contacted by a moderator to explain what has happened, and if the same person repeatedly posts inappropriate stuff, they will face what limited sanctions we can impose, such as a temporary posting ban, up to and including permanent exclusion from the site.

The principle focus of the site is motorbikes and motorbiking. We all also operate in the real works where other things are happening, and you are perfectly happy to discuss those here in the off topic forums. We even have dedicated sub-forums for topics such as hi-fi and photography, which I would be happy to expand if necessary, however if you want to discuss the failings of globalisation and our political response to that, you may be better served by alternative sites on the internet.

Apologies for having to state the bleeding obvious to a grand community of people who have for the very most part already been living within these un-stated boundaries, and I would be more than happy to discuss your thoughts on this topic.

Wot?? Surely bike theft is topical? surely subjective and even objective debate is possible without derisory comments to other forum members. From what I am seeing it appears evident that forum users on here are quite happy to "gang up" and bully the perceived weak kid. Not me. I disagree with you in the nicest possible way.

What a load of rubbish.
There are lot's of examples on this very forum of much worse bigotry than this.
If you are really committed to what you are saying, then you'd better get searching and deleting.
Of course what you'll do is just delete this post, because it exposes the utter hypocrisy of people like you.
Check this.
Just one example of many
Funny thing is that one of the most prolific posters on this thread, is so high and mighty about concerns expressed by others in relation to other groups.
