Because some people might want a sport tourer instead of a supernaked
Because some people might want 113hp instead of 150hp
Because some people might want to be able to hold 90ish down a French autoroute for longer than 10 minutes
Because some people might prefer the looks
Because in that case everyone that bought an R1200S may as well have bought an R 1200R
Because we're all different
Wildly optimistic thinking. They do a 959 Multi that will fulfil all the above better than this entry level ducati sports, and not all monsters are 150bhp.
So there

Multi is too tall baby. I like them but I can't get on them.
and not all monsters are 150bhp.
Granted, but everything else stands.

Much as I love Euro bikes, in this category nothing beats the VFR800.
It might not have the panache and character of the Duke, but in every other respect I'm prepared to wager it's the better bike.

Do like the look of this new Ducati though, we'll obviously have to wait and see how it sells.

Took the words right out of my mouth. The Duc looks nice but it is a sports bike. I really question the tourer bit, pillion ability is zilch and it does not look that roomy, the riders knees are well bent and he ain`t a lard arse. Who are they aiming it at? mature? young?

Very tempting

Indeed. I have just recently (before being enticed by the duc that I can't afford) been considering changing the 12S for a good VFR800 for the European trips and a 'sit up and beg' type along the lines of a Griso Et-al for Sunday cruising.
