I'd love BSTs for my HP2s, but can't justify for the mileage I do on it.

If you go for panniers like those (which look pretty good) - consider getting a simple bolt-in "semi-frame" made from stainless tube - to hold the panniers "vertical".
I don't think it would be too difficult to make and mount (using the same mounts as the BMW panniers) - albeit that you have to drill the rear fairing.

The bike I'm buying has the BMW frame so that could be enough, fingers crossed. These are less than 90 pounds so good value, and probably as big

Anyone has a photo that illustrates the size / capacity of the BMW panniers, for example with a full face helmet inside?

Full face helmet in 1200 panniers? Unlikely, my arai barely fits in th 1100 panniers.

Cheers! Can you really drive with them as expanded as in photo no 3? Looks as if they could be pretty roomy in that case

I've never used them expanded I think they would be a bit on the wide side

You can ride with them expanded, as mentioned though, watch your width! They are roomier than you might expect.
