In all fairness, this was the first time we have visited Wales and to those who have supported this event several times in the past I can see where they are coming from, variety is the spice of life, it`s better to speak up than simply not attend. For me, it is hard to criticise those, who are prepared to voluntarily organize such events. Saying that I am not one for throwing my rattle out of the pram either just cos others do not agree with me. I am happy to swill beer anywhere, it`s the company you keep that counts. Chill peoples.

Fiat Panda.
Fiat Scudo (with speedblock, pipe carrier, reversing sensors, reversing camera, tow bar, some new rust and Fake Plumber logo)
started out with nothing, still have most of it left.

I'm going to refer folks to this page of a thread from last year.
I've not been sercretive about my dislike of the WP, but I'm not gong to spit my dummy out over things (trust me, I've got far, far more important things to worry about at the moment) and if the majority wish to return there then fair enough.
Howver, despite the venue - whether it's the WP or elsewhere - I feel the group attendance (and ensuing ride-out) has become far too large, and I'm really not comfortable with that. That's just a personal opinion - there will be those who disagree, perhaps some may even agree - but that's how I feel and if I didn't say something it'll only stew inside. As a result I won't be coming to Wales on a Boxertrix weekend again, and for that - especially to those whom I consider damn good mates - I am most sincerely sorry.

I aggree with Richard about the numbers, which is why I choose to attend in a car & not go on the rideouts which I no longer enjoy. They are now a full blown race, where people are made to exceed their abilities, and as in the past mishaps occur. Why don`t the" Willey wavers" organise a track day where they can show off in safety & the "Steady Eddies"(me)enjoy the ride & appreciate the scenery.I, for one,do enjoy the Wild Pheasant ,location & most of all the company & great social event. My reason for asking for voters to suggest alternative venues, was purely out of interest in attending,as my favourite weekend for a long while was Minehead ,as it was a change.I have an idea for a Norfolk weekend, where numbers will have to be limited to a more manageable group.I will do some research then check for interest.

Nicely put, Reg.
I hold my hand up with a 'guilty' to the comment about riding fast and count myself as one of those who've, shall we say, been a little too generous with throttle use at times. With my new job I've got to be extremely careful as I simply cannot afford to risk my license so I'd most certainly be in the 'bimble about and enjoy the scenery' team. If I could afford to do so I'd be looking at buying a much slower, comfier bike (although is that a sign the big Five-Oh is approaching?).

I can see where people are coming from re the size of the group, and being extremely bike rusty (not been on the bike for over 7 months) was a little anxious and didn't want to hold anyone up, but Steve was happy to go as slow as the slowest rider without any pressure and as such no one got lost. I certainly wouldn't criticise anyone for the organisation of the weekend which was fantastic and much appreciated. It may be worth considering cutting the distance a little and as Mr parry has somewhere suggested maybe having a stop off at a point of interest (slate mine looked interesting - hint!!)
.After all (most) of us were on BMWs and therefore it goes without saying, extremely cultured

Richard, I suggested in another post about a social meeting. As we all have varying distances to arrive at the meeting point maybe we could use the journey as our ride out and have a social evening?Gromit wrote:I'm going to refer folks to this page of a thread from last year.

I did not do the ride out this year, not just because of the numbers, but also the distance. I feel that 230 ish miles is too far having travelled that distance to get there and then having to go back that distance again on sunday was just too much for the old joints, 50+ bikes is possibly too large a group but last year at the back was fine so I cannot comment on the racier riders although I did witness the "off" last year!! We just went out for a gentle 100 miles on our own this year which was very pleasant, I can understand people who have been several times wanting a change but to find somewhere to accomadate everybody together would probably be a bit hard and not feel as friendly if we were scattered all around a town.
