They should be ok - it's the newer Tokico's that I think have the problem.
Spoke to a Tech at Vines today and amongst other things he suggested smearing grease (high-temp obviously) down the sides of the pads and the "thrust bearing surface" (ie the sides of the caliper) to prevent corrosion making the pads stick - it's an idea - obviously use the MINIMUM amount of grease to do it. What I also do is file the sides of the pads off slightly to make them a little looser in the caliper.
He also claimed that the "backing off" of the pistons when you release the brakes is due solely to the seals "pulling" the piston back - which I'm not so sure about - i'm positive there'd be a small amount of "pull" through the hydraulics when you release the brakes.
anyway - the bike is there and hopefully being assessed for warranty replacements.
I might stick some pics up soon - took a few of the corrosion while I was waiting for them to open.

Yes, if you host them somewhere else. Grom's ISP won't support anonymous FTP uploads to his web space, hence you can't upload a picture (or avatar) to this site. Stick it somewhere you can address it with a URL, and use the Img tags around the URL.

You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

ok - yeah I thought something like that might be the case.
ok - here they are :
Left Side fork
Right side fork
Yoke
oil Line
Foot levers
Swing-Arm nut
Fixings
(see the large TORX screw at the top of the peg mounting plate - that bolt (to my knowledge) has never been touched).
the stupid Brake Junction device that prevent you bleeding the front brakes properly
My engine cases are speckled white just like yours. I can just about hide it with a liberal application of WD40. And there was me thinking the black finish would be harder wearing than the silver !
You can easily clean up the unfinished edge of the cylinder head fins with a bit of 400 grit wet & dry. This is now part of my cleaning regime. Do it when you've still got soapy water in the wash bucket and keep dipping the wet and dry in.
And I've just got a set of Stainless bolts from Boxadog Bob. Most of the kit seems applicable to the Rockster. I know from history with the S, some stainless bolts can transform a tired looking front end.
I'm still debating whether to go down the Vines replacement route for the fork legs, or to go buy some proper paint from a paint factors and spray them myself. (L E Went in New Malden will mix up absolutely any colour and bang it in an aerosol - they have a comprehensive range of swatches so it's easy to get a colour match). Vines replaced my lower fork bridge without question and it seems to be holding up (it does actually look like it has a different paint finish). But I'm not convinced new fork legs will be any kind of permanent solution.

Ironically - my GF's 4 year old 'Blade which was kept for a full year 100 yards from the seafront at Littlehampton, used all year, washed about twice, and kept under a cover - LOOKS BETTER!!!!
If BMW have ANYTHING to say about not replacing the parts I'm going to take the 'Blade up there and make a BIG fuss.

It's pretty disgraceful - will be very interested to hear what BMW have to say about it. Must admit, the finish on my TT6 is damn good - ok there are a few stone chips around the shock (no rear hugger) but the rest of the bike is nigh on immaculate after 11k (5k of which is mine) and 4 years.
BMW are supposed to be a 'premium product' manufacturer - I see little evidence of such in both their 2 & 4-wheeled items. My Sis & Bro-in-law have a 1 yr old 330i which rattles and creaks badly - our Citroen C5 is better screwed together (and that's saying something!!). BMW are building down to a price, yet not passing those savings onto their customers. Plenty of 3-grand plasma TV's and free internet/coffee/leather sofas etc etc in their showrooms though.

Which is exactly the argument I will be putting forward : I didn't buy a £7,500 bike to have it fall apart after a year.
Makes my 99s look positively new.
What have you been cleaning it with?

Took my 2003 model into my local dealer (Rainbow ,Rotherham) to let them have a look at the fork brace, the technician took one look and ordered replacement, rear shock also a bit rusty but not sure wether I will get that replaced.I had polyvbelt cover on front of engine replaced after approx 14 months due to corrosion.
On the subject of the front brake sticking was advised to make sure the calipers were cleaned regularly if being used all year round, have not had a problem since stripping them a couple of months ago.

It's the fork tubes that they're replacing, the fork bridge and both mirrors.
Also noticed at the weekend that the part that the pillion foot pegs bolts onto has got rust so I mentioned that and they're going to book it in to have that done on warranty too!
I'll have to give the bike a good once over before the warranty expires to see if there's anything else that's suffering.
They've given me a K1200S as a loan bike though so I'm still grinning
