I subscribe to Bike. The journalism is entertaining but content generally uninteresting. Reading this thread makes me realise I must really knuckle down and work out how to cancel. Not knowing how to is the only reason Im still subscribing....

Bike in the early days through most others over the years but as has been said got bored reading the same old same old. Now if I buy its likely to be a custom mag like Back Street Heroes. I tend to read a lot of travel books, life stories etc usually bike orientated.

I only just realised yesterday that I have two months worth of Ride sitting unread on the kitchen table, just shows how disinterested I am in it now time to cancel the subscription I think.
I'll reckon I'll give that Practical Sports Bikes a look, Have often glanced at it in the shop, but never lifted it. Seems to fit the bill going by your take bones

Just picked up Performance Bikes on impulse. First time , looks quite good.

The title is very misleading, because it's not really a sportsbike mag.
It's about bikes in general, mainly from the 70's, 80/s and 90's.
It's a dangerous mag though.
The last copy I bought had me scouring ebay for an RD250LC.

I used to buy classic bike and classic motorcycle every month back in the eighties and early nineties. I still have the odd issue. If you look at the length of articles compared to now there is no comparison IMO.

+ another 1. Started off with this one in '84, which became Motorcycle Mechanics and Performance Bikes (or summit similar) the following year. Then the MM bit was dropped and Performing Berks was born. Took that and Bike for a few years before getting bored with the same old same old.
Most recently subscribed to Ride for a couple of years. Great for kit reviews and touring stuff, as has been said, but otherwise just a procession of one adventure bike test/comparison after another it seemed. Tried Classic Motorcycle Mechanics for a bit. Not bad but tending to lean towards 60s/70s machines - a little before my time.
Stumbled over Practical Sportbikes at issue 1 when it was a quarterly trial publication - loved it. Still do. A bit of 70s but mainly 80s/90s tackle - reet up my street .
Also get The Riders Digest online freebie. Some great articles and editorials (even Bender's stuff ). Really varied content and some epic photographs.
