Super-strength horseflies too. G/f and I were both bitten through our trousers somewhere up near Ullapool; she ended up with a crater in her leg the size of a half crown which took a fortnight to heal, using some antibiotic Polyfilla stuff to fill the hole...

And happy memories of Kiwi sandflies...

Nothing worse than being bitten on the Ullapool. :toothy4:

Ahh, but not the new revised in the last couple of years fragrance. I don't know if they removed a key ingredient (citronella?) or if the little sods have developed an immunity but it's not what it was.

A true test of midge resistance is a trip to the "Red Squirrel" camp site near Glencoe village. The midges there regard Avon's finest as a marinade ......

see there's the problem right there.... if I'm spending all day in the saddle of a motorbike I want a room, bed, restaurant and bar..... roughing it , and only in extreme circumstances, would be not having an en suite bathroom :)
