Wow! Hope that doesn't happen to mine.
I got an advisory for play in my final drive at the last MOT, followed by,

Bloody hell, that`s amazing, how the devil can you tell that from that picture, are you some kind of tree expert?......or is it because the bloke looks like a convict?

Well it 'may' not be, but I'd bet a fiver it is.
For a start, the layer of dead eucalypt leaves is a bit of a giveaway.
The Oz sub-tropical bushland has a particular appearance, mainly 'cos it consists of a mix of plants seen nowhere else in the world.
After you've spent enough years camping/hiking/enduro riding/mowing in it it does become a bit recognisable vs landscapes from other continents.
I'll stick my neck out and say somewhere in the coastal ranges of Queensland/New South Wales.
And I do recognise the trees: they're GUM trees .... harrr ahh ahahaaa

Look carefully and you will spot the kangaroo peeping through the trees with a gobsmacked expression on its face while swigging a can of Castlemaine XXXX. Obvious really

Oh that will be Skippy. He's been looking a bit ragged since Fosters dropped his sponsorship.

Funnily enough if that pic was taken 35 years ago it could have easily been me during an enduro, but not with a broken bike.

Out of interest I'll send that pic to my son in Sheffield (Has worked/studied in the UK for 12 yrs) for his thoughts on the location.
He was a full-on MTB Downhill competitor here and saw a lot of the Oz landscape - often very close-up. Harrrr.

What your forebears failed to realise was that they were exporting the cream of the most inventive, creative and rat-cunning survivor class of Britain. I mean - by what other means did they feed their families?
But enough of that.
I've consulted with another ex-con .. err adventure rider ... and we both agree that the picture was taken in the ranges a little north-west of the hamlet of Mooball in northern New South Wales.
Here are some pics of the local wildlife: (Attenborough voice): very reclusive species, with heightened senses of sight, smell, and hearing, unless of course these have been dimmed by the accidental inhalation of smoke from a nearby state-sanctioned marihuana crop destruction, during which time they are very vulnerable to bright headlights and the offer of lots of money to pose for kinky body painting sessions.
There are also unsubstantiated rumours that a local dairy is using strangely shaped milking cups, but for the time being we can only put this down to the kinky dreams of Colum, the reporter for the Mooball Times.
Maybe his fantasies are playing tricks on him. (Ohhh corrrr - wouldn't mind copping some 'o vem tricks pllllayed on meself ... shutup Dad - you dirty dirty old man...)
