STOP YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY ANY SPECIAL PARTS OR KITS TO REMOVE THE SERVO UNIT. -you can use all the parts already attached to your bike. Takes less than an hour to do the job.
from dave H on ukgser.
The servo removal and reconnection of pipework and electrics was carried out using existing parts only - it has cost me absolutely nothing apart from time and a few consumables.
Start with removal of the servo system itself together with redundant metal pipework - been documented on here numerous times and is relatively straightforward.
Reconnect the rear brake hose directly to the top of the master cylinder using the domed hex head brake fitting
Well this is NOT entirely correct for the r1100s as the rear brake doesn't have a banjo fitting on the flexible hose at the cylinder end only the caliper end so you cannot connect the hose as stated on a r1100s , you will need a fitment to connect-Motor works can supply this item - search on Forum and you will find picture of this pipe fitment-the advise given by D.H is applicable to the gs range as they have a different fitment(banjo) at the crucial point. This is NOT a criticism of the absectomy instructions and is quite clear as to what model range the advise is for but it is easy to believe from others advise that this will be completely applicable to r1100s and do-able with no extra parts required.I would also state my thanks for D.H in sharing his knowledge freely ,goodness knows we can all benefit from that attitude.
