I was out in the peak this weekend. I can't believe the way some groups where riding!

These people need stopping and having a good talking to IMO, so I have no problem with what the Police do....

I almost got a 'busa' inbedded in the side of my bike as he just decided to follow his mates out of a junction without looking (the guy in front of him shouldnt have pulled out really, because even he caused me to brake), then him and his mates decided to engulf us into their group and ride with no braking room between anyone, and thought it was ok to ride so close next to me we where almost touching shoulders! The overtakes that followed to pass a campervan where unbelievable, I was sure I'd see a dead biker by the end of the road.

Big group, riding silly, riding fast, all with race cans, all forcing other traffic to brake/change direction..... not good for the biker image.

yep the weekend wanker season has started in earnest, out they come at the first sign of sunshine wobbling around incapably on their very capable sports bikes. Seemingly unable to grasp that as they've not ridden since last September their skill set maybe almost zilch ...

However, of course they think they're riding Gods because they can make loads of noise, squeeze into their gaudy 1 piece leathers an cut up other traffic in faux race manoeuvres ... as you say not good for the image.

Then a few of the more useless, or unluckier, ones with contact with Welsh scenery and upset NWP and we all end up suffering.

Well, along with a few other Trixters, my 'other' bike is one of a group of the fastest 'race-bred' road bikes money can buy but my immediate re-action when 'engulfed' by a group 'Power Rangers' is to slow right down, wave 'em on and let 'em get on with it. I'm out for my riding pleasure, not theirs. Riding a motorcycle swiftly and smoothly with a (small) group of friends, à la our recent Welsh-Weekend,:)

is one of life's great pleasures but attacking every bend on (open) public roads in an attempt to get a knee down is just plain stupid. Don't get me wrong. On a track day it's obviously a brilliant buzz. But, if it all goes 'tits-up' on a track there's plenty of room in the 'run-off' areas for a rider to come to a safe stop and have a 'quite moment' to contemplate a few newly acquired scratches. However, run-off areas are a 'luxury' I've yet to come across on the stone walled, deep curbed, telegraph polled, over signaged, wild-life ridden, pot-hole strewn roads in my neck of the woods. Life's full of surprises. I just like to keep 'em to a minimum when I'm on me bike.

Gus it's not their speed I was pointing out it was their rusty skills from not riding for half the year [1] that make them a danger to themselves and those around them, added to group high risk riding styles in traffic and even those at the national limit are a far greater risk to themselves and others than someone at three figures on an empty dual carriageway. Speed is rarely the issue, inappropriate speed is often the issue.

[1] which is fine, but take it easier until it's built up to a reasonable level again.

If I've offended you I apologise, it was not my intent to offend, with the exception of one poster here I'd hate to cause offence to anyone.
