I've dropped the shocks off at FTR in Bury St Edmunds (Ohlins agent) & they are having a look at them. (the stickers on them are Kais in Manchester, spoke to them and was asked to email pictures etc & that they would respond within hours, never heard back from them)

The spec which they have appears to be a bit sketchy and it looks like the standard R1100s dimensions, so they are talking to Ohlins in Sweden for more data before they do anything (I've sent them the charts which Chris has given to me & will see what they make of them)

I suppose the question from where I stand is, if they are the standard R1100s dimensions, is this a problem in real life, will the geometry be altered (I read somewhere that the fork leg lowers were longer to raise the front on the later BCRs), so if I have the back shock raised slightly from standard 1100S to compensate how does this affect things?

I will just need to be patient and wait for an answer from the suspension people, but frustrating as I don't have a bike to use!

Got the shocks back with various internal spacers removed to allow full extension as per original spec.

All back together & have managed to get a few hundred miles under the belt now with everything back to standard settings, the bike sits a lot higher & next to a standard 1100s the front is noticeably different & I'm wondering how high the front end really needs to be.

Well, handling wise it was a bit bouncy at first on the factory settings, so increased the rebound damping a bit which helped (the fenland roads around here are very uneven so needs to cope with pretty variable conditions, so I think it's not doing a bad job), nothing to compare it with so will use it as it is for now to get some feel for what's happening.

Side stand allows it to lean over a long way so wonder if something isn't right, anything to look out for on this?

Also balanced up the throttles & had a lot of vibrations (lost the 3mm screw holding the damping knob on
the front shock on my first outing) & discovered that the rubber vacuum caps on the inlet manifold had perished & were allowing air in. Made a temporary bodge by wrapping them in amalgamating tape (worked a treat & smoothed things up).

I'm really enjoying the bike & find I'm taking detours to make the journeys longer, I've occasionally noticed a fair amount of transmission noise when everything is up to temp (gear changes etc fine & runs smoothly). Service isn't due but I'm thinking of changing oils & fluids, is this likely to help or is it normal?
