Can't argue with that mate but the clip they showed in the programme was definitely Blackie Bernal on a Triumph.

Sorry HRD (pre Vincent) they added the name Vincent later because
people across the pond where getting the name mixed up with H D (Harley Davidson)
it also looks like a parallel twin in the program to me too.

It looks like quite a few favoured the birthday suit approach:
http://www.landracing.com/forum/index.p ... 650.0;wap2
"There were a number of people that wore bathing suits and draped themselves over the rear fender before me. Jack Dale (HD 45) for example in 1951. Rich Richards and Blackie Bernal wore tights (or long red underwear). I [Tom Smith] wore a bathing suit since my desert racing leathers made it awkward to lay down on the bike."
There's some pics of the Vincent if you google "Rollie Free" Bonneville.
And a book too:

I keep coming across lots of 'heroes' like these guys who seem to have been forgotten by the general motorcycle media & public, which is a great shame.

I don't want to labour the point ,

but here are a couple of 'stills' taken from that segment of an otherwise brilliant programme to illustrate my claim that they got things a little bit wrong

in-as-much as they showed a clip of a Triumph whilst implying it was a Vincent

Probably only matters to a 'dyed-in-the-wool' Triumph (60s) man like meself tho.
