Should add that it was all undertaken in the yard between the bbq and the wife's pot plants with an anxious eye on the dark grey sky.

Also had to go to buy open ended spanners and surgical gloves (most of my tools have found their way into brother's pad with the R6..

And then there was cups of tea, staring at various fasteners for extended periods, swearing, token wiping down of normally covered bits - the amount of corroded bits was surprising - wiping copperslip off of every surface that I had touched etc. etc...

All in all not exactly a rapid pit stop :D

If the bugger starts tomorrow and gets me to Kingston - result

and also the first attempt at proper home maintenance now its out of warranty... I'll be blueprinting the engine and polishing ports in no time :wink:

Couple of fun sparks as I caught the fuel tank with the spanner earthing the +ve terminal.. whilst removing old battery



To avoid the obvious in future ,be it bikes or cars it is well worth removing the -ve terminal first and refitting the -ve terminal last to avoid any pyrotechnics!

funny, it said that in the manual as well.... :wink:
