8 of my mates are in the Picos and due to return by Brittany ferries on thursday, I've just called them to give them the news, they are told to ride to calais where other companies will honour their tickets

thats a 971 mile trip from where they are right now
Steve
Owch! I take it Brittany Ferries will be re-imbursing them for the petrol/meals taken/accommodation etc?

That's correct RICHARD, you have to submit your claim for additional hotels/fuel/tolls/expenses en route back to Calais.
They will also refund the return section of your ticket, but you have to fork out first and then claim back retrospectively!
We came back over the Channel with P&O Ferries and they were excellent, no hassle when you presented a Brittany Ferries ticket, we arrived at 11.00 am and were put on the 11.35am crossing, can't complain at that

According to their website
http://www.brittany-ferries.co.uk/route ... dates/faqs
they will refund the cost of additional fuel to get you to calais from the original port (santander) and will refund the unused portion of the return ticket, but all other costs (food and acommodation etc) must be claimed from your travel insurance.
All in all it's a bit of a nightmare!

You're not joking Steve.
Plus extra tyre wear - nearly 1k miles is knocking on 1/4 of a tyre's life gone.

I've been monitoring their twitter feed and relaying info to the boys, it seems there will be an anouncement at 5pm today as to whether their sailing tomorrow is cancelled or not.

Your pals did have travel insurance?
Easy enough to claim back?

Is it EVER easy to claim from an insurance policy?
But yes, they all had travel ins. their sailing is deffo cancelled so tomorrow they start to head north to Calais along with all the other passengers, plus those from thursdays boat to Portsmouth that is highly unlikely to sail too
Finding hotel rooms on route won't be easy either.
