Backfiring Bimmer.

Post by Temp. »

Greetings from Oz.

As you may discern from my username I'm here temporarily,on behalf of a friend with a R1100s, who is not online but is having backfiring problems with his bike.

It's a 2003 model with standard headers feeding into a Remus pipe and cans,he also has a Techlusion EMS fitted.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Someone's bound to say it, so it may as well be me...

'They all do that sor!' - but it's worse if there's a bad joint between y-piece and cans.
Many riders don't seem to mind the odd pop and bang on the overrun. 'Characterful'.

What Harry said - mine backfired very occasionally with OEM pipes but was like a Howitzer once the Laser system was fitted. Making sure every little joint was sealed v v carefully helped but never quite got rid.

Thanks for the replies,I'll let him know that it's terminal.

I kind of figured it had something to do with it being injected and that it wasn't shutting off fully.

A carby's your man everytime Sorrah. :D

And he wants to fix it?

BTW,Harry reckons I was shooting flames out me arse on a quick throttle chop, to brake for an errant car, on the way to P'boro for the Opp Norf tour. I do recall a fairly large 'pop' from out back.... :D

Where in Oz is your mate located?

And I bet it's getting sunny!
PM a contact number or email address. I'll be back in Sydney for 4 weeks mid Jan onwards. It would be a good opportunity to have a Sydney version of a Sunday lard-fest at the Road Warrior Cafe (see the Days Out forum).
