My R1200S is poorly
I took it into Bahnstormers yesterday to have the oil level sensor fixed, which hasn't worked since I got it. At Bahnstormers they've got a glass window where you can see the technicians working on your bike. After waiting there a while I happened to look through and noticed that the service manager had taken the ignition key out but the headlight was still on. A couple of minutes later he came over and told me the bike was still running without the key in!! I've had to leave it there while they investigate but they've lent me a K1200R Sport - how fast??

Hi Paul,
Made luck mate. When I read the message I remembered a similar message on the pelican site so you are not alone!

Don't waste your time or time will waste you.
We've been getting my STolen /Recovered 1200s going and at first couldnt start it. Then discovered a couple of Micro Switches in the ignition unit and got it sorted. We could keep it runing without teh keys depending in how the switches were pressed. Kind of like a hot-wire thing.

Cheers, dave. Just read the Pelican thread and it does sound similar. Yesterday was the first time I'd started the bike for a couple of months so maybe the battery was low. I'll suggest that to Bahnstormer tomorrow and also the microswitches (cheers PB). Just got back from a blast on the K1200R Sport, I'm quite impressed. The engine was a lot smoother than the K1200R I rode when it first came out. Still much prefer the boxer thoughkitkat wrote:Hi Paul,
