Rob B Sad news

Post by eggcup »

I have some very sad news for the Club, friends and acquaintances of ‘Rob B’.

I received news that Rob had been involved in a fatal road accident some weeks ago. Hoping for some better news to counter reports it’s now with a very heavy heart that I have to confirm that Rob passed away at 10.30am on Saturday 11th August.

I understand that Rob was returning on the Reims – Calais A26 motorway following a 3-day track experience at the Nurburgring where he was given a ‘Best Newcomer’ Award.

Rob was travelling at 75mph on a straight road with a colleague when he lost control of his bike and hit the central reservation. It is understood that the circumstances of the accident are still under review.

Rob’s wife, Sue has asked me to pass on her apologies for not contacting his many friends and colleagues prior to the funeral, details of which were locked away on his PC.

I am sure that we all share her loss in our own way and must hope that she gets some small comfort from the fact that, in her own words, “He was doing what he loved”.

I have many things to thank Rob for, he was a good man, and a good friend in my book………..we will all have our own thoughts Im sure.

Im not sure if friends of Rob Barksfield on this site know of his untimely death if you do Im sorry to bring it up again (I cant find any mention)

That's shockingly sad news...can't really think of what to say :(

A fair few of us got to know Rob from him joining us on several Trixter weekends and outings. A genuinely nice guy.

Very sad news. My thoughts are with his wife and family at this difficult time.

You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

Im very sorry to bring such sad news I knew Rob both through my BCR and the fact he also had a Duc 888 I met up with him just before his passing at JHP Coventry.
He gave me invaluable advice on both bikes and we exchanged and bartered many parts.
Rob was one of those rare people in life that would bend over backwards to help if he could and it makes me feel that life is so unjust and I will miss my work day chats when boredom had set in.

Only met Rob & Sue once but they came across as two of the nicest people you could ever meet. A sad loss to this community and a devastating loss to Sue.

Regards Peter.

Very sad news about Rob B. Condolences to his friends and family.

Don't think we met in person but conversed about getting SJ Powerfilters a few years back & I remember his postings on the site.
