TT 2007 Verdict anyone?

Post by PBBoxer »

Back from 16 nights at the TT this morning.

Interested in what others thought of this year's event?

Not so much in terms of the racing, but teh whole shooting match.

Also, managed to take some really good vid from the 1200s and will post some bits up if anyone wants to see. At the start of the visit, only managed just over 140 on the mountain mile but by the end of last week had it just about topped out at just under 160 indicated

As many on here know I'm also a sidecar passenger at weekends. My TT highlight was my mate Rick Long winning both Sidecar races to become the most successful passenger ever over the TT course (7 wins).
Another deserved mention is for Eddie and Dipsta who were the fastest newcomers and came in something incredible like 16th.

If no one has ever seen sidecar road racing you have to see it to believe it. Those TT passengers take a battering for over an hour in 3 non-stop laps (I'm exhausted after 10 minutes and 8 laps of brands short circuit). The rear suspension play is absolutlely minimal. When the race is over quite a few have to be lifted off the platform and some will be pissing blood for weeks. real hard bastards.

Saw a couple parked outside the Imperial but didn't have my camera with me. One was a purply/greeninsh colour. Special edition?

Well i have to say the weather took some beating, apart from sunday when there was a monsoon late afternoon early evening.

Saw no end of 1100s's most still had the cats on!!!,seems most peoples idea of improvement is putting a sticker on e'm!!.

Saw the biggest assortmet of bikes i think i've ever seen, from a Norwegian reg Brough Superior that had been to the Artic Circle,to Mick Grant rideing home in the traffic on an RG 500 Suzuki race bike.

The raceing was very good i've never rated Mcguiness, but feck me he's somthing else round the TT.

Could fill a few pages with the people i met, oddly enough alot were Australians with no interest in bikes but just felt they had to go and have a look!!.

But last but not least, don't talk of white van man,Volvo van or anyone else for that matter the dumb'est road users are bikers, utterly, utterly brainless,if you ever want to top yourself go to the TT,cuz some twat will do it for you coming the otherway.

But a great event nontheless.

BK - that's me on the blue 1100S with the Alpinestars jacket :D (Sorry about the cat, Winger, but I had enough trouble getting the Lasers on without worrying about sheared exhaust bolts etc aswell  ). Don't recognise the location BK -where was it? Pity you couldn't make it to Laxey on Friday 1st!

I thoroughly enjoyed the week away despite the weather (we arrived on the Tuesday of Practice Week and left just as the weather was picking up!). In fact, we enjoyed it so much we're already booked up for 2008, although I may be on a different bike by then, finances permitting

PB - good to see you there! That footage of yours is worth publishing. Have you sorted out the gearbox problem yet? You've put me right off a 12 now :(

Didnt have any moments at gooseneck all fortnight. The only place that did bite once was the dip just after ginger hall

Not keen on Brandywell either, or the left at the end of the mile

What a place.
