Just be prepared, looks like now P+O are getting into the cheap and cheerfull routine at Dover,if you miss your ferry, even if you notify e'm,tough shit, you have to pay again, wrote to P+O had a polite reply 'read the terms!!!

The guy who traveled with us got on the said ferry and met us in Calais the following morning, was delayed over an hour, when querying if he was entitled to a refund do to delay,as opposed to us paying again as we were 12 hours late got the same 'read the terms'!!!!

we had no problem getting an earlier boat from rotterdam to hull last week for a friend, although he did have to pay 80 euros for a shared cabin
they said it wouldn't have been a problem if ther was room in our cabin.

They split years ago,it's funny howdoyoudo, really cuz when it suits the admin cross's over i've booked ferry crossings for Portsmouth at Dover when the computers have gone down, but they operate as two separate companys.
The longer distance ferrys don't have the competition that the Dover/Calais lot have hence, their prices carry on up and the Dover/Calais crossing is cheaper than ever.

That's pretty good rates. The problem for us up North is the hellish journey down and back which adds a load onto the total cost. Rosyth/Zeebrugge (spel ?) is £170 return with the bike which works out a bit cheaper than riding all the way down to Dover. It's an overnight ferry arriving at about 12.00am. These are really good rates from Dover though if you are near enough which is about anywhere in the UK apart from Scotland.

you might want to try the Hull/ Rotterdam route, £87 return bike and rider in a four berth cabin, sails at 9pm and gets in at 9am.

Steve

That's not too bad from Hull. Do they do it any cheaper if one is happy to snooze in a seat or is it compulsory cabins ? The Rosyth/Zeebruge ferry provide travel rugs and one can just crash out in a reclining seat so the £170 rate is a bare minimum rate.

Compulsory cabins I'm afraid, £87 each was for 4 bikes and riders sharing 1 4 berth cabin.
