HID woes.
I have been trying to install a HID kit (bought from HIDs4U.co.uk).
I have made a bracket to mount the ballast box under the tank (no ABS) and fed all the wires through, and having got all the tricky bits done I have hit a brick wall...
The H1 bulb supplied is too wide to go through the bulb mounting plate. It gets through the first part, but not the second layer.
I have measured the bulbs... H1 Halogen 8.0mm, H1 HID 8.8mm.
Has anyone else encountered this? If so how did you solve it?
Thanks in advance..

Just a bit of a wriggle getting it in,as the Actress said to the Bishop, bit exotic for the ballast box!!! just zip tie it on the right side of alloy fairing frame, sits under the body work fine, for a time had it wedged between the tank and the head stock with rubber packing, which also worked OK.
When it's working make sure you get the level set right, the old car drivers don't like it up e'm so to speak, you'll wonder how the hell you ever survived without one.

OK I'll be having a go tomorrow with my needle files (I tweaked my back doing the rest yesterday).
I did think about just cable-tieing it up, but I had the time, had the power, I've yet to have my brightest hour.... oh hang on, Ive got Freddie on my MP3!
I put it under the tank 'cause it will make the cable run nice and tidy, and I'd rather it appear to be standard, than aftermarket, to my local non BMW savvy bike MOT shop.
As to dazzling car drivers.... well it would be nice to get my own back, but yes I will check the beam height.
Cheers.

All done.
Im now expecting a visit from MI5, wondering why I seem to have discovered stable room temp Nuclear Fusion!
Problem is that now the main beam looks very pale and yellow in comparison. My HID is 6000K (lowest HIDs4U do). Any ideas on a main bulb replacement, Philips blue vision perhaps??

Since putting an HID in,i've never used the main beam, whats the point,it lights the the road up for 1/2 a mile how far do you want!!!,i've cruised at 120 on a completly unlit road without any hassle which i thought pretty safe, only to have some loon come past off this board who was flat on the tank flat out!!.
