R1100S ABS Problem - what are SLM like?

Just getting my bike back on the road after a long time off it.

I've got an old problem to fix - at a dealer no doubt.

I changed the rear pads without clamping the hoses or opening the blead nipple, the result is now the ABS pump is on all the time - regardless of whether your braking or not, anybody had this problem before? A year or two ago I took it to the dealer in Bromley who couldn't find the fault so they suggested a new ABS unit (£1000+)

I used to get it serviced at SPC - looks like they are closed down now, these days I live in Kent anyway, so how are South London Motorcycles in Caterham for servicing?

I've always been very impressed by SLM - last took my bike there in July last year. Far superior service to SPC IMHO.

If money's a bit tight and your bike's out of warranty, then why not try Jap & German in SE1 London?
You'll get friendly and efficient service without the fancy coffee and probably at nearly half the price of a BMW main stealer.
Their workshop is fully equipped with all the BMW diagnostic equipment, and they carry a good selection of new and used parts.

I've always had pretty good experiences of SLM - however from his and others' experiences of J&G I'd echo Bailey's comments.

Its a 01 S Sport so its waaay out of warrenty, Prestidge BMW in Bromley area were going to get BMW to pay halves on the parts, they actually agreed but I could never get a service booking to get the work done so I gave up.

I not too worried about cost - just want to get the bike back on the road - its been off since 2005.

I'll give SLM a ring once I've got the battery fully charged (on charge now...) and the engine started, but J&G sound temptting - I've got the integral EVO ABS on the bike, I'll see if they can do the work - a bit further than SLM for me though.

My theory was: take it to a main dealer who knows lots about the EVO ABS and they
might able to fix the problem with replacing the unit. But maybe an independant would be more inclined to investigate the problem further before resorting to an easy replacement.

I second Baileys recommendation of Jap and German, since they have been servicing my bike it has run better than it ever did before and at a substantially lower price than the stealers in Battersea.
You can't beat proper personal service from those who know what they are doing IMmostHO
