Winter Battery Maintenance

Post by scotty »

The weather is getting really cold up here at the moment but I have resisted removing the battery (gel type) from the bike as I'm hoping for the odd day of riding over the winter. What's the best way to keep it charged ie only connect the Optimate every now and again when the battery is losing its charge or keep the thing connected up on trickle charge permanently.

Leave it connected ... Optimates are very clever ... it won't charge unless it needs to. Ta, Lee.

What Lee said - my bike gets plugged into the Optimate every time it goes back in the garage. Great piece of kit.

Thanks for the advise. I'll plug the optimate in tonight and leave it connected. Cheers.

What they said goes for me too...

Started first time, after 3 months in the garage last year
