Pimp Your Ride!

Post by POB »

OK, so for a laugh, how about arranging the following modifications in order of preference. You should bear in mind the performance / bling factor, and also the return-on-investment these changes bring....

Before anyone mentions it, I am well aware that the 11S can be adapted for any job, and that modifications will be consistent with the requirements of the owner. It's only fun. Please feel free to add your own. This list will define your riding priorities! We will know who the tarts are!

My own ratings are below (ex-courier and all-year round long-distance commuter, about 40-50k miles per year, but I also like a bit of scratching on the side):

1- Load-carrying (boxes / bungees)
2- Bellypan - bling for non BCR owners
3- Aftermarket Screen
4- Hugger and / or carbon mudguard
5- LED stop / tail and indicators
6- Y piece
7- Xenon / HID Lighting Kit
8- Actual real-life crash protection (not decorations)
9- Race pipe and chip
10- Custom paint (for me, black wheels and a white GT stripe)

Not really important to me:
- Carbon bodywork (some or all)
- Engine jewellery (esp. rocker covers)
- Comfort mods - altered bars, pegs etc
- Engine tuning - cams etc
- Large tank conversion
- Proper race mods (total loss wiring, race subframes etc)

I'd do your list upside down.....no point in having extra horses if you can't get em onto the ground there pa

1 - Heated grips (they were already fitted anyway, so they came first)
2 - Hugger (because the first ride in the crap makes the clean up afterwards something not to relive)
3 - Y-piece (it's just natural...)
4 - HIDs (once you've got them you know you wanted them earlier)
5 - Panniers (because 1200S owners can't/couldn't! )
6 - Holidays
7 - Car
8 - House
9 - Alcohol
10 - New helmet

I spent a fortune on my last bike; I'm not going there again....I'mm not...

simple really..

1. fasteners/bolts that rotate (in my dreams)
2. luggage (tank bag, panniers and ventura rack)
3. engine cover protection
4. decent weather
5. a garage

performance wise (if I could be bothered)

1. training
2. stickier tyres
3. suspension/ride height
4. weight reduction
5. engine/fueling mods
6. stick on ears

If someone gave me a free larger tank I'd install it, ditto y piece.

So the same then

+/- 1.5% sounds a pretty good margin of error for a dyno

I'd say listing e'm in no particular order

High bars,Ventura rack, big tank, and a custum seat so my buns don't slide up the tank!!,and a battery that i don't have to check every year.

Top of bling list,Ti front wheel spindle and the 4 bolts that hold the rear wheel on at 'cough' 340 quid.

The things that don't matter,but do really,AP sixpots,Dymags,Lennies,SJ filter,Power Commander,Ohlins, a very good exhaust system.

And things that matter even less, but they do to me,Brakeing rear disc thats wearing at 100mph!!,carbon body panels, metal foot pegs so you can get some leverage when steering the bike, and a list as long as you arm of spares hanging on the garage wall in case i ever throw it down the road one day.

Oh and did i ever mention the carbon fibre rocker covers with a bloody big hole i one of e'm?? no?? another story!!.
