I've got a 2610, but I've never had a Streetpilot 3 so I can't really compare the two. As I recall the 3 isn't touch screen? Having a touch screen is really handy when you're on the bike, but is it worth £200 to upgrade?
Although there are smaller, neater units around (Tom Tom Rider and Garmin's equivalent which'll be available here soon, I understand) I'm reckoning to stick with my 2610 until it stops working, otherwise I'll never really get my money's worth out of it. It does everything I need and although it occasionally gives some really bizarre routings I don't expect that any other unit would be significantly better in that respect - it's largely down to the map data which can be iffy both in the UK and elsewhere.
Partial - you can search for AL8 6, for example. Postcodes are not one of its strong points but that just means you need to know the address of where you're going and not just the postcode.
However as the 2610 does not have full post code look up I cant see any benefit.

Bugger! Better luck next time eh! Chears for the cables BTW - now I just have to work out which one is the duff one and which is the good one. Wish I'd taken a sec to mark it before:oops:

Bob - The 2610 has a faster processor and takes 'normal' memory cards rather than Garmin sepcific cards. This means you can get a 2Gb card and load the whole of Europe onto it. For that sort of money I'd upgrade... if I wanted a big lump of GPS on the bars. (Minor downside, I think it has to run off the bikes power as there's no internal battery). Postcode search isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Jason - Do you think I've sold it to him?

You never know! Mind you - for that money I may as well buy one of those - I only really want an old one though that tells me where I am and the direction I'm travelling in - I prefer maps meself really
Chears Bob - why didn'y you use the working cable then or do you think they're BOTH buggered
