Help! Need wiring diagram

Post by throttlemeister »

Guys, I desperately need the R1100S wiring diagram. It doesn't appear to be in the service manual I found online, and I need to install my alarm.

Can anyone help?

Yes. Don't install an alarm.

Hope that helps

Sorry TM, couldn't resist  . I don't recall ever seeing the electrical circuit diagrams for the S on the web, however your friendly local BMW dealer should be able to supply them off the standard parts list.

We used to have a guy posting on here called "stempy" who was our resident electical wizard on the S, but he's sold up and moved on. I can't find any reference to his old web site of S related info any more.

Sorry, that wasn't really hugely helpful was it? Let us know if you do track any diagrams down on the web.

cheers,

Paul
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

TM - I'd agree with Paul; step away from the alarm!!! :D

Seriously, there must be a wiring diagram available somewhere. Would the fundamental wiring be pretty much the same as all the other Oilhead Boxers? If so, the dreaded Haynes may have some limited use.

:D

I want an alarm. So I will try to hunt the schematic down. If I find it, I will post it unless someone has it here.

I have the GS one somewhere and I've posted it before, it can't be that different from the S. I'll search about and post it again.

HTH

Adam :)

[EDIT: Ok, found it, see below - Note: It won't be here forever, I've recently gone employed and will be binning my ex-business website in the near future.]

Forgive me father for I have sinned... ex S owner moved onto pastures new with four cylinders and a chain... and back to a twin, albeit in a V.

Seriously though, a good alarm does not give problems provided it was properly installed. (and that includes no use of AMP crimp connectors, screw connectors etc.)

If you properly solder all the connections, place the box in the dryest place and tape up the loom of the alarm like the original wiring loom you first of all cannot tell an alarm has been installed and second you will have no issues with the alarm itself. Fried electronics excluded of course (but if your moronic burns up, you are stranded too)

I have installed and used alarms on several motorcycles for several years, all properly installed by yourstruly instead of some d1ckhead on the clock and never had a single problem.

There's a specific 11s diagram in the back of the current Haynes w/shop manual #3466
