Sorry to hear your news, but glad your ok.

Hope you can still make Burton next week.

I agree that after 25 years no claims, good to get something back but as you are aware so many Harley owners change the cosmetic suff, pluss " salvage" from insurance claims, you can pick up loads of stuff from the dealer sponsered boot fairs. Unfortunatly the Dorking one was a couple of weeks ago

Basically, if someone on the road pisses me off, a quick blast of electromagnetic pulse energy to totally fry their electrics will leave them stranded. Their phone/CD player/DVD/engine Fi & ignition/air-con all rendered useless in about 2 milliseconds. And they won't even know what hit them. :D
but would'nt that also affect your bikes electrics?............ oh sorry forgot your on a harley

It's mainly because there are no traffic officers left to implement the penalties, therefore the penalties may as well not exist.[/quote]

Weigh this up against speeding on minor roads without fear of meeting a traffic car. Unfortunately we can't have it all ways.

Personally, I'd get some of those premiums back and make a claim. I must've recouped at least half my total riding insurance premiums when I wrote off the GSX-R. If you look at it that way it suddenly makes it look fairly cost effective.

Cheers

1, I would gladly have traffic cops monitoring our minor roads, after all , this is where the majority of our "offs " occur due to poor car driver's observation. Fixed cameras cannot detect a pissed/ wayward/ reckless driver.

2, remember that "protected no claims" only applies to your current insurer, who may load you regardless of your prior history, it's just that after they have loaded you, they will still apply your ncd. If you go to an other ins co. you must declare your last claim, and they will load you accordingly.

Thanks Geoff. :)

Good point - only problem is that Streetrod silencers are like rockin' horse poo. Remus now do silencers for the bike (about 30% cheaper than OEM) so perhaps I should use this as an opportunity to make some noise?? ;)

I stripped the top yoke down today and found that the bars etc aren't in fact bent - the clamps to which the bars bolt to are mounted in slightly oval mounting holes on the top yoke. Just undo the mounting bolts, re-align and torque up again.

I'll definitely be at Burton :)

Steve - this EMP generator's got a directional aiming facility transmitter (or DAFT) :D

Steve

1) I think most of the 'offs' on minor routes are down to pilot error, i.e. single vehicle incidents rather than cased by dumb drivers - this probably comes into play on major routes and urban areas.

2) Protected NCD just means you retain the full 5 years (or whatever) discount, however, you still get loaded for the claim. If it's unprotected it gets reduced by 3 years and you get loaded for the claim.

Adam :)
Forgive me father for I have sinned... ex S owner moved onto pastures new with four cylinders and a chain... and back to a twin, albeit in a V.
