As a relative newbie I'm still getting used to my S - When I'm in neutral, and at a stand still, and I need to get into first, sometimes I have to move the bike slightly forwards or backwards to get the gear in - (All other gear changing's fine) - Is this just a BMW thing or is my clutch not quite right?
Cheers, Dave
Its caused by a combination of having a dry clutch as oposed to a wet one. Also the gearbox arrangment doesnt help matters. It does get better the more miles you put on the gear box and what oil you use in it helps matters too.

i sometimes had this problem on first s - but not on my current one. sometimes i just went into second at a standstill, before putting it down into first.
They (mostly) all do that, at first. No need to rock the bike. Just apply light pressure to the gear selector as you release the clutch and it will snick into 1st no problem.
Cheers,
Paul
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.
